Sofia Joelsson Creates a Penthouse Worth Celebrating with The Kitchen Design Collective™

Through our Miami showroom, we had the privilege of working with Sofia Joelsson, who has been building an impressive portfolio of world-class projects with her team at Sofia Joelsson Design since 2011. Working hand-in-hand with AjMadison, she transformed an Ocean Drive penthouse into an enchanting living space where luxury, beauty, comfort, wellness, innovation, and a distinct air of hospitality intersect.

Sofia’s Luxe, Lyrical Indoor Kitchen

To match her client’s lifestyle, Sophia had to perform a full gut of the kitchen. This allowed her to fully utilize its 360-degree views to create a space that was graceful, sophisticated, and wonderfully inviting.

“Because the homeowners love to share their passion for great food and music, we placed the kitchen at the center of the main living area,” Joelsson shares. “This allows the husband to play piano as family and friends gather in the kitchen to socialize, prepare a sumptuous meal and then dine in grand Miami style as a lovely tune and the gentle sounds of the ocean serenade them.”

One look at her stunning redesign shows just how much her love of Miami is imbued in every ounce of her creative process. White cabinetry, countertops, and furniture bounce every ray of natural light around the room and fill it with life. Wooden seats and flooring lend a natural touch while interspersed houseplants throughout the room add an aesthetic of tropical greenery. A white and blue rug plus some accompanying throw pillows mimic the sight of cool Miami waters washing up on shore. Working in concert with one another, all these elements make this penthouse feel like a relaxing seaside escape.

To complement the layout of this open concept space, it was pivotal that Sofia chose a retailer that shared her vision and could leverage their extensive appliance knowledge to make it a reality. Sofia’s Jaw-Dropping Outdoor Kitchen

Gracing the penthouse’s rooftop terrace is an enormous alfresco oasis where homeowners and their guests can “enjoy a meal or raise a toast by the astonishing see-through pool,” Joelsson says. “AjMadison helped us accomplish this with appliances that not only add outstanding aesthetic appeal and function but can withstand the challenges of Miami Beach’s saltwater environment.”

Along with high-grade, weather-resistant outdoor appliances, AjMadison also kept eco-friendly design in mind. The built-in, electric grill from Kenyon can whip up all your barbecue favorites without producing smoke or embers. Not only does this preserve the clean coloration of the white pergola above the outdoor kitchen, but it also embodies safe, sustainable design practices.
