The Brownstone Boys Restore an Icon of Gracious City Living with The Kitchen Design Collective™

Our collaboration is meant to spotlight local talent that have worked together with AjMadison to bring their expertly crafted kitchen designs to life.

Through our Brooklyn showroom, we had the privilege of working with the Brownstone Boys, Barry Bordelon and Jordan Slocum, celebrated designers who have been restoring and reimagining Brooklyn brownstones since 2018. Working hand-in-hand with AjMadison, they transformed a Fort Greene kitchen into a masterful mix of old-world charm and contemporary design.

A Cutting-Edge Classic with a Well-Stocked Kitchen

“Our historic restoration and modern redesign reflects our clients’ desire to keep original details of the home… Some of the features that help achieve this are restored pocket doors, ornate moldings and a large steel-and-glass arched door that connects the kitchen and back garden,” Slocum shares. With these goals and factors in mind, it was essential that the partners chose appliances which not only supply modern kitchen innovations to the daily lives of their users, but also blend seamlessly with the layout of the home and its classic aesthetic.

Four of the five luxury appliances provided to this project by AjMadison are discreetly concealed behind matching cabinetry, making the Fisher & Paykel range an eye-catching centerpiece within a classic kitchen. Adjacent to the main cooking area is a high-capacity, panel-ready refrigerator. Above the range is an insert ventilation hood tucked within a custom canopy that matches the kitchen’s venetian plaster. Topping off this suite are a surprising three dishwashers within the beautiful kitchen island! This double drawer dishwasher and full-size pairing makes it easy to handle half loads for intimate dinners or tackle tons of dinnerware while entertaining.
